Tribute to Patricia (Trisha) Purvis
In early March our hearts were sadden by the sudden loss of 30 year Frontenac County Childcare Centre Board Member, Patricia (Trisha) Purvis. Below is a beautiful tribute by her fellow Board Member Nancy Mercier.
“As you know, Trisha passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep. I would like to thank Carol for taking the time to call each one of us to share this very sad news in her very kind and compassionate manner.
Another thank you also goes to Cathy for sending each of us the link from the James Reid Funeral Home to help keep us connected in our grief and give us a way to share our sympathies with Trisha’s family.
Many of you have already read the lovely tribute that Trisha’s sons wrote. As her sons state, Trisha was an inspiration to her family and friends for thriving as an independent woman. FCCC was very lucky the day 30 years ago, when Trisha go involved on the Board of Directors.
A skilled and effective leader, she treated everyone respectfully and equitably. The hours she spent in this endeavour are staggering – preparing for meetings, learning new information, supporting management, building relationships with all stakeholders, negotiating collective agreements, attending workshops and meetings, participating in the hiring process – are to name but a few of the tasks she cheerfully took on.
She had a vision and built the FCCC Board into a professional, well functioning group who made informed decisions and were fiscally responsible.
She embraced change while championing best practices and encouraging confidence.
She was a genuinely kind and lovely person, who may have been small in stature but not in might.
She will truly be missed”.
